‘Social Entrepreneurship Challenge’ opens door for applicants vying for support to implement entrepreneurial ideas

The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) has announced the opening of the application process for Jordanian youth and civil society institutions to compete for financial and technical support under “Social Entrepreneurship Challenge” project in its fifth cycle.
Winners will have the opportunity to have their social entrepreneurial ideas adopted and implemented with the support received.
This project's continuation for the fifth consecutive year under the slogan "Don't leave your idea on paper" aligns with His Majesty the King's vision that youth are the primary engine for change.
It also heeds His Majesty’s his call for nurturing young people’s talents to help them address the challenges their communities face and motivating them to embrace entrepreneurship and innovate.
The project aims to provide support to youth to help them implement new entrepreneurial projects or develop their existing projects and enhance their impact on their local communities. Additionally, it encourages youth to engage in positive competition and seeks to spread a culture of initiative, giving, and active citizenship among them so that they are empowered to contribute to the development of their governorates. The initiative is also aimed at promoting positivity through shedding light on cases involving young people who have managed to make a positive change in their local communities.
The project targets individuals and youth groups within the age range of 22 to 40 years, in addition to civil society institutions. Those interested in applying for support can fill out the application form through the registration platform www.join.kafd.jo between February 25 and March 23, under specific conditions and criteria.
Qualified projects will receive technical support in the form of a training program aimed at developing the project’s idea to ensure a genuine and effective impact. The winners will receive financial support not exceeding JD5,000 for individuals and youth groups, and sums ranging between JD10-15 thousand for civil society institutions.
A specialized technical committee of experts will review, examine, and evaluate the applications and select the qualified projects. Selected candidates will undergo a specialized training program to hone their technical skills for developing their projects. Towards the end of the training, participants will deliver presentations before the final evaluation results are announced.
It is noted that the project, launched in 2019, has supported 23 projects, providing 1,768 direct and indirect opportunities.
