The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD), through its youth arm, the All Jordan Youth Commission (AJYC), is preparing to launch the Youth Leadership Camps project as part of its efforts to strengthen youth participation in local development, empower young people to play active roles in their communities, and develop their leadership capabilities to contribute to positive and sustainable change across the Kingdom’s governorates.
The project aims to develop aware and capable young leaders equipped to address community challenges by providing participants with the skills and tools needed to develop initiatives and propose practical solutions that respond to local community needs. It will also promote communication and knowledge exchange among young people from different governorates and expand networking opportunities, helping build effective community leaders.
KAFD General Manager Dr. Samer Al Mofleh said that investing in youth leadership is a key pillar of the Fund’s development approach, reflecting its belief that youth empowerment goes beyond building capabilities to strengthening young people’s role as partners in identifying their communities’ priorities, addressing their challenges, and shaping their future.
He added that the All Jordan Youth Commission is one of the key mechanisms through which these priorities are translated into practical programmes and initiatives. The Youth Leadership Camps project reflects this approach by building young people’s capacity to turn knowledge and skills into initiatives with tangible impact and strengthening their role in advancing local development across the Kingdom.
The project will be implemented in several stages, beginning with its promotion and the announcement of registration, followed by screening applications against specific criteria to select participants. This will be followed by specialised training camps organised across the Kingdom’s regions, culminating in an evaluation of the project’s outcomes and an assessment of its impact to inform further development and support its sustainability.
Preparations for the project’s launch form part of KAFD’s broader efforts to strengthen the role of young people in national development and provide opportunities for them to develop their potential and apply their capabilities in serving their communities, thereby enhancing their active participation in Jordan’s development and modernisation efforts.
It is worth noting that the camps have reached 360 young men and women from across the Kingdom’s governorates through three previous cycles, with the aim of developing effective youth leaders and strengthening their role in local development
