The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) has launched the Khatawat Internship Project, as part of its ongoing efforts to invest in Jordanian youth and strengthen their professional capabilities. The project aims to provide recent graduates with practical internship opportunities within the KAFD’s development companies, helping them build professional experience and improve their readiness for the labour market.
The project aligns with the Economic Modernisation Vision, which places youth empowerment, human capital development, and the alignment of education outcomes with labour market needs at the heart of Jordan’s economic and administrative modernisation agenda. It seeks to enhance the competitiveness of Jordanian talent while creating broader opportunities for integration into the labour market.
Dr. Samer Mofleh, Director General of the KAFD, said that the project reflects the KAFD’s vision of investing in Jordanian youth by providing high-quality internship opportunities that strengthen their practical and professional skills and enhance their preparedness for entering the labour market. He added that the initiative is fully aligned with the priorities of the Economic Modernisation Vision and His Majesty King Abdullah II’s vision of empowering young people and developing qualified human capital capable of leading Jordan’s development journey.
Dr. Mofleh further noted that the Khatawat Internship Project reinforces the integration between the KAFD’s programmes and investments, contributing to the achievement of its broader development objectives—whether economic or human development—by enhancing participants’ capacities and equipping them with practical, applied knowledge and experience.
The Khatawat Internship Project offers recent graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on professional experience and develop both their technical and workplace skills through training in a real working environment. The programme enables participants to apply their academic knowledge, gain a deeper understanding of labour market requirements, and build practical experience that enhances their prospects of securing quality employment in the future.
The project targets recent graduates holding a Bachelor’s degree or an academic diploma, subject to a number of eligibility criteria. Applicants must be Jordanian nationals, aged 21 to 28, have graduated within the past three years, and must not be employed at the time of application. Applicants are also required to successfully pass a personal interview, complete the application form, and submit all required supporting documents.
The King Abdullah II Fund for Development continues to implement high-impact projects and programmes that respond to Jordan’s evolving development priorities by focusing on economic empowerment, sustainable development, the adoption of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence, and the promotion of the digital economy. These efforts coincide with the development of the KAFD’s strategy for the coming years and the celebration of the 25th anniversary of its establishment, further strengthening its role in advancing Jordan’s economic, political, and administrative modernisation agenda.
