The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) concluded this year’s activities of the Tariqi project by holding a ceremony honoring the host companies that accepted project participants as interns.
The recognition came in appreciation of these firms’ pivotal role in supporting participating youth and their effective contribution to a plan to enable them to move from the stage of identifying labor-market-required skills to acquiring and developing those skills.
This stage of the project was achieved through providing on-the-job training opportunities for participants, in addition to the companies’ engagement in conducting technical job interviews with project applicants prior to the start of the skills training phase.
Tariqi project was launched in 2015 in strategic partnership with The King’s Trust International and implemented by the Business Development Centre (BDC), the project works to enhance youth competitiveness and enable their entry into the labor market.
The project is carried out by building participants’ life and technical skills and equipping them with hands-on practical experience through on-the-job training, which ultimately leads to the provision of real employment opportunities within specific sectors aligned with labor market needs and requirements.
In 2025, the project targeted four main sectors: digital marketing; website and application design (UI/UX); logistics sciences and supply chains; and quality assurance for mobile applications and websites. A total of 27 companies were honored in recognition of their role in ensuring the project’s success and in enhancing employment opportunities for youth.
Since its inception, the Tariqi project has benefited 1,124 young men and women across 13 sectors, with the participation of 155 companies. The total number of employment opportunities generated by far reached 547, with an overall employment rate of 50 percent.
This project comes as part of the KAFD’s role in supporting programs and activities that contribute to building citizens’ capacities in ways that augment their competencies and productive capabilities, in addition to providing training opportunities and professional support for Jordanian youth.
