The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) has announced the opening of application process for the Undergraduates Research & Innovation Support Project (RISP), which aims to empower university students and encourage them to develop practical, science-based solutions that contribute to a more productive and engaged community in the scientific and educational fields.
The project provides technical and financial support for the implementation of graduation projects, in partnership with the Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB).
This support enables students to advance their ideas and transform them into viable, implementable projects.
KAFD stated that submitted applications must present distinctive and applicable ideas with the potential for sustainability, patent registration, or ability to address challenges facing local communities. The project focuses on strengthening the role of youth in generating practical and innovative solutions.
Projects will be selected under two main tracks: open research topics defined by students in coordination with their academic supervisors, and projects proposed by JODDB. Winning projects receive up to 5,000 JOD in financial support, in addition to technical guidance and advisory support throughout the implementation phase.
The project comes as a continuation of the Fund’s efforts to support youth, develop their research and creative skills, and strengthen their role in producing innovative solutions that meet the needs of society.
The application period runs from 30 November to 24 December, via the platform https://join.kafd.jo/default.aspx , according to specific criteria that ensure the quality and applicability of the proposed ideas.
RISP, launched in 2004, has supported 391 project ideas and contributed to the registration of three patents, reflecting its long-standing impact in fostering student innovation, competition, and practical skills.
