The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) has announced the selection of seven community entrepreneurial projects to receive financial and technical support through the Social Entrepreneurship Challenge project in its fifth cycle for 2024, under the theme "Don't Leave Your Idea on Paper."
KAFD’s director, Mazen Tabbalat, signed support agreements with the owners of the projects, designed to serve local communities and spanning several sectors, most notably technology, tourism, education, marketing, and digital media content creation.
The projects, which serve sustainable development goals through innovative methods, will receive financial support of up to JD5,000 for individuals and youth groups, and between JD10,000 to 15,000 dinars for civil society organizations.
The winning projects were selected by a neutral and specialized technical committee of experts after studying the submitted applications, evaluating them, and selecting the qualified projects. The project owners then underwent a specialized training program to improve their technical skills for project development, culminating in a final presentation and evaluation before the results were announced.
It is noteworthy that the Social Entrepreneurship Challenge project, launched in 2019, had supported 30 projects and provided 1,768 direct and indirect opportunities by the time the last cycle was concluded.
