An Agreement between King Abdullah II Fund for Development and Harvard Kennedy School

Amman , Jordan -- The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) has recently signed an agreement with the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University to conduct an Executive Education program in Jordan from January 17 - 21, 2010.

Leading for the Future: The Middle East in a Changing World is designed for 55 senior officials from Jordan and other Arab countries, representing the public and private sectors and civil society. The goal of this program is to attract and train the highest level of decision makers across the region, world-class faculty, and an outstanding curriculum.

The program presents senios leaders with a unique opportunity to think deeply about the most pressing national and international challenges facing the region and world today, and to build collaborative solutions that will benefit the region's citizens well into the future. Participants will return to their countries with an enhanced understanding of leadership in promoting reform, greater knowledge of changes taking place internationally, and a renewed commitment to working with their peers from other countries.

Participants in the program will acquire knowledge, hone strategic skills, and develop networks through intense interaction with faculty and other participants who, like themselves, hold the most senior leadership and policymaking positions in their countries. The academic curriculum relies heavily upon the case method pioneered at Harvard. Because the case method focuses on actual problems, it provides a powerful, stimulating educational experience. In addition to case discussions, participants will have the opportunity to engage together in analysis, communications, and negotiations through in-class exercises and simulations that demonstrate the lessons of the course material.

The five day Executive Education program is designed and chaired by Robert Lawrence, Albert L Williams Professor of International Trade and Investment at Harvard Kennedy School. The program curriculum will include public and private partnerships, international economic and trade policy, and negotiation and decision making.
