KAFD offers a number of scholarship schemes to support the education of Jordanian students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Some of these scholarships are offered in association with renowned institutions outside Jordan.

 

Scholarships

 

  • Undergraduate Scholarships for Distinguished Students in Public Universities
  • KAFD grants 312 scholarships per year for distinguished Jordanian students either studying or accepted in any of the Kingdom’s public universities. The aim of this program is to provide equal educational opportunities to all eligible individuals regardless of their financial status. To date, KAFD has provided distinguished students from across the Kingdom with 2,185 scholarships. This program helps elevate standards of living for distinguished students, enhance the educational opportunities offered to them, and also contribute to a healthy and transparent competitive spirit. This scholarship is open to all Jordanian students who have passed their Tawjihi exams and are eligible to enter a Bachelor’s degree program or are already enrolled in Jordanian public universities.
  • Princess Muna Scholarship Fund for Nursing
  • Princess Muna Scholarship Fund for Nursing has been established by HRH Princess Muna in partnership with KAFD. The program aims to upgrade medical services in the Kingdom while also seeking to encourage excellence in the nursing profession. It targets Tawjihi students, especially women, who would like to enroll in nursing programs offered in Jordanian public universities and are in need of financial support. The program also seeks to encourage women already enrolled in the nursing profession or hold a nursing associate degree to actually earn a Bachelor Degree in Nursing. Every year, Princess Muna Fund for Nursing, in collaboration with KAFD, awards 30 scholarships for students in universities.
  • KAFD-London School of Economics and Political Science (MSc)
  • The KAFD Postgraduate Scholarship at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) offers an exciting opportunity to fund Jordanian students seeking to study at LSE. The scholarship is offered to cover tuition fees with a maximum of GBP 15,000 and is available for Jordanian applicants admitted in one-year full time Master’s programs with a priority given to political science and development studies.
    How to apply
    Applicants interested in this scholarship should complete the LSE graduate application form. More information can be found on www.lse.ac.uk/collections/graduateadmissions/apply . Once holding an offer of a place, eligible students are invited to apply for the KAFD Postgraduate Scholarship via the Financial Support Office at LSE.
  • Chevening Scholarship
  • KAFD has entered into a partnership with the British Council in 2005 to fund 50% of two annual scholarships offered through the Chevening Scholarship program in Jordan. The aim of the program is to provide opportunities to young and dynamic Jordanians who wish to study in the UK. Scholarships are awarded only for post-graduate students pursuing a Master’s Degree. Every year, 2500 scholarships around the globe and a good share of Chevening scholarships are offered in Jordan.   • Columbia University Scholarship
  • The King Abdullah II Fund for Development, in partnership with the Jordanian Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (MoPIC), the Earth Institute, Columbia University and Columbia University Middle East Research Center’s Institute for Sustainable Development Practice, are pleased to offer the Sustainable Development Master’s Fellowship Program for students from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Fellowship Program will provide training in sustainable development in order to give students the ability to implement reform, create policy, and advance goals of sustainability. Upon conclusion of the fellowship, students will return to Jordan to apply the knowledge gained in practical development problems. Two fellowships will be granted in 2011 and will cover tuition, travel, and living expenses for the duration of the one-year program.

    Applicants must apply and be admitted into the Master of Science in Sustainability Management Program; a joint venture between the Earth Institute at Columbia University and the School of Continuing Education in order to take advantage of the fellowship. However, there is no guarantee that applicants admitted into the Master of Science in Sustainability Management Program will be awarded the Sustainable Development Master’s Fellowship.   • The University of Bath Best Project Award
  • The University of Bath Best Project Award was established in January 2009 by the
    King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) and the University of Bath to recognize achievements in the field of Mechanical Engineering. This unique and prestigious award will be given to five senior undergraduate students who make a significant contribution to their area of research. Five shortlisted candidates will each receive a University of Bath honorary plaque. The top two will also receive full M.Sc. degree at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Bath. Possible future financial support for Ph.D. studies may be available. The University of Bath has a proud record of achievements in mechanical engineering education and research. This, together with the excellent laboratory and computing facilities, makes the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath one of the top in the UK. Financing Jordanian University Students’ Graduation Projects

  • The Program Idea
  • This program aims at funding the research and the development costs of students’ graduation projects. This fund is offered through the King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) and it targets projects implemented by students within Jordanian universities. This arrangement is made in keeping with his Majesty King Abdullah II’s vision for supporting creativity, a goal to be achieved through creating the right environment and means for students to show their talents and spread their innovative thoughts. The desired result is to combine these characteristics with the right funds to create tangible results that in turn allow Jordan to move forward in its journey of sustainable development.
  • Goals
    • To offer the right circumstances and environment for supporting distinguished and creative students from Jordanian universities
    • To change students’ mode of thought and to encourage innovation, creative idea generation, analytical and critical thinking, and scientific research, and development
    • To ignite the healthy spirit of competitiveness amongst university students that in turn will push them towards applying creativity to all aspects of life and always taking the initiative
    • To support Government Policies that are aimed towards developing the level of higher education offered within Jordanian universities
    • To support the Kingdom’s journey towards sustainable development, a goal achieved through raising the caliber of Jordanian human resources
  • Supervision
  • Projects funded by KAFD will be supervised by the Scientific Research Center of the
    King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau(KADDB).
  • Criteria for Funding
    • The funded project should be an innovative effort that proves to have an added research value and that can be implemented and linked to the work of an entity operating within the Jordanian industrial sector or any related local organization
    • The research team involved in the project should include two individuals or more; however, this condition applies only for Bachelor Degree graduates and not to Master Degree Graduates
    • The cost of implementing the project should not exceed JD 5000
    • The form for funding should be filled, and it is available at the KADDB Center at the University of Jordan
